LayerZero's Zero Blockchain Reaches 5 Million TPS
LayerZero's Zero blockchain architecture has made significant strides in scalability, now capable of handling five million transactions per second. This achievement is built upon the foundation laid since early 2026, when the team unveiled its heterogeneous L1 design that could reach two million TPS per individual 'Atomicity Zone.'
The tech stack behind this feat separates transaction execution from verification using zero-knowledge proofs. Block Validators can run on consumer-grade hardware, while high-performance Block Producers handle the heavy lifting.
LayerZero built four proprietary components to make this work: QMDB for state storage, FAFO for parallel computation, Jolt Pro for ZK proving, and SVID for networking. Transaction costs are roughly $0.0001 per transaction.
