Lazarus Fund Flows and Kraken Deal Talks Spark Hyperliquid News
The North Korea-backed Lazarus Group has been linked to over $30 million in transactions on the Hyperliquid platform, according to researchers at Arkham. These funds were first transferred into Bitcoin, then moved through several chains before reaching multiple exchanges, including KuCoin and Kraken.
The transfers were still active as of August 31, 2026, with about $30 million directly attributed to Lazarus addresses. Another $5 million came from wallets that share similar characteristics but have not been officially confirmed to belong to the same actors.
In a separate development, Hyperliquid Labs is in talks with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, about a possible entry into the United States. This would involve listing certain perpetual futures tied to on-chain assets from the platform on Bitnomial, a CFTC-regulated US exchange and clearinghouse.
