Lazarus Group Breaks Silence with $19.4M Bitcoin Move
The North Korea-controlled Lazarus Group has broken its silence after months of inactivity. According to on-chain platform Arkham Intelligence, the hackers activated their wallets and transferred 244 BTC worth around $19.42 million.
This move immediately caught analysts' attention as it traditionally precedes the launch of a laundering chain for stolen assets. However, experts emphasize that it's too early to sound the alarm, as the main obstacle to laundering these funds remains the crypto industry's advanced security infrastructure.
The Lazarus Group wallet still controls a consolidated portfolio of assets worth around $40 million, with more than half held in Bitcoin. The recent $19.42 million transaction is insignificant compared to Bitcoin's daily trading volume and cannot directly crash the price.
