Lazarus Group Moves $30M Through Hyperliquid Amid US Entry Talks
North Korea's Lazarus Group has continued to move millions of dollars through the onchain derivatives platform Hyperliquid, despite ongoing efforts to bring the platform into the regulated U.S. derivatives system.
A cluster of wallets linked to Lazarus moved over $30 million through Hyperliquid's HyperUnit infrastructure between August 14 and August 31, according to recent data.
The funds were converted into Ether and Solana before being bridged across Ethereum, Solana, and Tron, and deposited into various exchanges including KuCoin, LBank, and Kraken.
Hyperliquid has been in advanced talks with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to establish a structure that would allow U.S. traders access to a subset of Hyperliquid-linked perpetual futures through Bitnomial, a CFTC-licensed derivatives stack acquired by Payward earlier this year.
