Ledger Combines Security Leadership Amid Rising Crypto Threats
Ledger, a Paris-based hardware wallet maker, has appointed Oded Blatman as both its Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO). This combined role is meant to help align Ledger's defenses with the rapidly evolving threats in the crypto industry.
Blatman joins Ledger after five years at Fireblocks, where he led global security and enterprise technology during international expansion. He has also held CIO and CSO roles at ClickSoftware and was global CSO at Bank Hapoalim. His experience fits with Ledger's broader effort to strengthen its organizational resilience.
The company sees the need for closer coordination between information systems and security as tokenization, AI agents, and institutional digital-asset use develop together. Blatman emphasized that artificial intelligence has reduced the cost and time attackers need to search for weaknesses, making it crucial for defenders to evolve at a comparable speed.
Ledger cited DefiLlama data showing hackers stole about $1.4 billion across 250 attacks in 2026 so far. In 2025, losses reached $2.7 billion across 146 attacks. Recent incidents, such as the hack of the Liquid Network and Trezor's breach involving one of its shipping providers, have added pressure to the digital-asset sector.
