Ledger Devices Now Support Zcash Shielded Transactions
Zcash has taken a significant step forward in its mission to provide private and secure transactions. The cryptocurrency's shielded transactions are now supported on select Ledger devices, thanks to an integration with the third-party wallet Vizor.
This new feature allows Zcash users to keep their private keys offline on Ledger hardware wallets while still engaging in shielded transfers. To use this feature, users must install a dedicated application on their Ledger device and connect it to an external wallet like Vizor, which handles account management and transaction creation.
Shielded transactions use zk-SNARKs to encrypt transaction data, making them more private than transparent transactions. However, they have historically been more complex to execute, especially on hardware wallets. The new integration with Ledger simplifies this process, making it more accessible for everyday users who prioritize privacy.
