Ledger Stuck on ATOM Critical Flaw Despite Cosmos Network Recovery
On September 13, Ledger still indicated ATOM as a critical failure, more than four days after Cosmos' incident began. Despite the network's recovery, users were unable to view balances or send operations via Ledger Wallet. However, this did not mean the Cosmos Hub network was down entirely.
The distinction lies in the fact that the blockchain resumed operation, but Ledger's service path for querying accounts and broadcasting ATOM transactions had not yet recovered. QuickNode reported that the Cosmos Mainnet stalled at block 32,878,318 on September 8, but returned to normal by September 9 and marked the incident as resolved on September 12.
Ledger directs users who need to move ATOM urgently to a guide on alternative methods, citing Cosmostation and Keplr as third-party interfaces compatible with a Ledger device. The security guidance highlighted by the company is not to confuse hardware wallet connection with importing the recovery phrase, which should not be typed into a computer or phone, nor shared with anyone.
