Lee Sees Ether Skyrocketing to $250,000 Amid Ethereum's Transition
Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), believes that Ethereum's native cryptocurrency, Ether (ETH), is poised for a significant price increase. According to Lee, Ether could rise from its current price of around $1,940 per coin to as high as $250,000, representing a potential gain of nearly 13,000%.
This prediction comes at a time when the majority of major cryptocurrencies have been experiencing a downturn since October 2025. However, Lee thinks that Ethereum's transition to 'Ethereum 2.0' could create tremendous value for the network and its users.
Ethereum is a decentralized platform where people develop software applications, which are governed by smart contracts living on the Ethereum blockchain. These apps ensure no person or company can manipulate their rules or functions, keeping them fully decentralized. The Ethereum network itself is also decentralized, hosted on thousands of nodes around the world.
Ether is the lubricant that keeps the network running, with demand growing organically as the network becomes more popular. Lee believes that major financial institutions will increasingly build payment rails on the network and it could become the primary settlement layer for transactions conducted by AI-powered agents.
