Lee Sees Market Bottom in Exchange Shutdowns
Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, believes that recent exchange shutdowns could signal an upcoming market bottom for cryptocurrencies. He pointed out that such events often occur at the end of a cycle, sparking optimism among investors.
The closure of BitMart and BitMEX has sparked discussions about the severity of the bear market. Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, initially weighed in on this topic via a now-deleted tweet, suggesting that acquiring smaller exchanges is more challenging due to potential security risks.
Despite the dire market conditions, Lee remains bullish on Ethereum (ETH), predicting it will enter its '2.0' phase and potentially become the dominant settlement layer for both traditional finance and AI agents. He has set a long-term target of $250,000 for ETH, arguing that cryptocurrencies offer an attractive risk-reward opportunity heading into the end of the year.
Lee also echoed Fidelity's call for Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, which he believes is essential for maintaining US competitiveness in the global market.
