Lee Sees Upside Surprise Potential, Massive Q4 Ahead for Bitcoin and Ethereum
Tom Lee, Head of Research and Chief Investment Officer at Fundstrat, shared his expectations regarding the Fed's September policies and global markets on CNBC.
Lee noted that September is a historically weak month for markets and highlighted uncertainties surrounding interest rate scenarios. However, he argued that markets could surprise with an upside move if the FED meeting on September 15th does not result in any changes to interest rates.
The analyst suggested that stocks could trigger a strong rally if there are no interest rate hikes, potentially leading to a limited pullback after rising above the 8,000-point level in the S&P 500 index. Alternatively, he stated that a major correction might be postponed until October.
Lee also touched on the cryptocurrency market, pointing out that it experienced a shallow 'crypto winter' and is nearing its end. He noted that crypto assets became the best-performing macro asset class in the third quarter of the year, with investor interest poised to return as the 4-year cycle comes to an end.
The analyst emphasized the significance of regulatory changes, stating that a passage of the CLARITY Bill could have a major impact on the sector. According to Lee, 'If the CLARITY Bill passes Congress this year, Bitcoin and Ethereum will have an extremely strong and massive fourth quarter.'
