LendProtocol Launches Fixed-Rate Lending on XRP Ledger
LendProtocol has launched its XRP and RLUSD fixed-rate lending platform on the XRP Ledger. The new service offers an attractive option for holders of these assets to earn potential interest without native blockchain staking.
Unlike Ethereum and Solana, the XRP Ledger does not use a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. This means that native XRP staking does not exist at the protocol level. However, services marketed around 'XRP staking' generally involve third-party lending or exchange programs.
LendProtocol aims to provide an alternative within the XRP Ledger ecosystem through its fixed-rate, centralized lending structure. The platform operates as a centralized finance intermediary, allowing users to deposit XRP or RLUSD and borrowers to secure loans using one of six accepted assets.
Users can earn a 12% annual percentage rate (APR), with daily interest payouts and no fixed lock-up period. However, the platform also carries risks associated with solvency, custody, collateral liquidation, cybersecurity, regulation, and operational performance.
