LEO's Quiet Rise: A Top 11 Crypto Asset with a Unique Purpose

LEO, a utility token for the iFinex ecosystem, has quietly become one of the world's largest cryptocurrencies with a market capitalization of nearly $9 billion, ranking it as the 11th-largest crypto asset.

Launched in 2019 after iFinex lost access to approximately $850 million held by payment processor Crypto Capital, LEO was created to solve an $850 million crisis. Instead of launching a public ICO, iFinex privately sold 1 billion LEO tokens, raising around $1 billion to strengthen its balance sheet.

Unlike traditional altcoins, LEO operates as an exchange utility token with a large portion of its supply held by major holders rather than actively traded in the public market. This results in relatively low trading activity compared to other top-ranked cryptocurrencies, despite maintaining a multi-billion-dollar valuation.
