Lepard Sees Strategy Gains as Bitcoin Price Set for 3x Return
Investor Lawrence Lepard believes that the current bear market in cryptocurrencies presents one of the strongest long-term buying opportunities in years. He recently increased his position in Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, calling the recent selloff an overreaction.
Lepard argues that Strategy remains a leveraged play on Bitcoin, making it more volatile than holding BTC directly. He rejects claims that Michael Saylor is taking excessive risks, stating that the company's leverage is well managed and its balance sheet is much stronger than critics claim.
The first major debt maturity for Strategy is still several years away, and preferred shares do not require immediate redemption. Lepard also points out that management has multiple options available, including adjusting preferred dividends if required.
In terms of Bitcoin's price, Lepard projects that it could rise from around $60,000 to $180,000 within two years, representing a 3x return for BTC. Strategy shares could deliver 4x to 6x gains due to their leveraged exposure to Bitcoin.
