Leumi Bank Partners with Galaxy Digital for 2027 Crypto Trading Launch
Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, plans to introduce cryptocurrency trading for its customers in early 2027. The service will be powered by Galaxy Digital's execution layer and custody infrastructure.
The trading platform will allow clients of Leumi and Pepper, the bank's mobile banking arm, to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Solana (SOL) through a dedicated section within the Leumi Trade app. The assets will be stored in Galaxy Digital's custody infrastructure, formerly known as GK8.
Leumi has opted not to build its own crypto trading desk, instead leasing it from Galaxy Digital. This partnership is similar to those seen with other banks rolling out cryptocurrency services.
The bank's decision to place trading within its capital-markets app is a bet that customers will prefer a regulated banking front end over standalone crypto exchanges.
