Leumi Becomes First Israeli Bank to Offer Bitcoin Trading
Israel's largest bank, Bank Leumi, is launching Bitcoin trading for its customers. The service will be available through the bank's mobile app, PEPPER, and will use Galaxy Digital's institutional platform, GalaxyOne Institutional, to facilitate transactions.
This marks a significant milestone in Israel's adoption of digital assets, with crypto adoption steadily growing in the country over the years. According to Chainalysis, geopolitical headwinds have contributed to this growth, with Israelis seeking safe-haven assets like Bitcoin.
Bank Leumi first announced plans to debut crypto trading in 2022 but shelved the initiative. The service is expected to launch early next year, allowing customers to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin directly through their banking app.
