Leveraged Ether Bets Backtrack Amid $15M Outflow
The 2x Ether ETF's leveraged vehicle, ETHU, saw a sharp reversal in sentiment on August 31, 2023. Investors pulled out $15.96 million in net outflows, marking one of the more notable single-day retreats for the fund this quarter.
This move comes despite the underlying asset, ETH-USD, continuing to power higher. It traded at $2,373.66 after a strong 36.14% gain over the past three months. Ether still flashes a bullish tone, with a one-day signal at Buy, suggesting traders may be taking profits or de-risking leverage rather than abandoning the crypto itself.
The withdrawal highlights the double-edged nature of leveraged crypto ETFs. Rapid price appreciation in the underlying can spur short-term repositioning as investors manage risk and margin exposure.
