LGNS Overtakes Bitcoin in India as Smaller Tokens Gain Traction
LGNS has taken the top spot on CoinGecko's India trending list, surpassing Bitcoin in pageview popularity. According to data from September 4, LGNS is up roughly 1.3% to 1.5% over 24 hours, with a 24 hour range of about $1.08 to $1.11. In comparison, Bitcoin has risen by 4.2%, but its higher trading volume and market capitalization do not translate to more online interest from Indian users.
The smaller token's surge in popularity may be attributed to recent price action, active trading on decentralized exchanges, continued staking activity, and community promotion. This shift towards smaller tokens is also seen in Akedo, currently ranked No. 3 on CoinGecko's India trending list, which has risen by 65.0% to 74.8% over seven days.
While the current interest in LGNS may not necessarily indicate a lasting trend or a shift towards higher-risk crypto assets, it does signal that Indian retail interest is expanding beyond mainstream cryptocurrencies. Traders are advised to monitor volume, liquidity, and market attention to determine if this interest translates into wider market participation.
