Lido Migrates Billions in stETH to New Validator Architecture

Lido, the world's largest liquid staking protocol on Ethereum, has started its most significant infrastructure upgrade since 2023. The migration of more than 8 million stETH, currently valued at approximately $16.5 billion, to a newly designed validator architecture aims to improve operational efficiency, decentralization, security, and scalability.

The upgrade is one of the largest staking infrastructure transitions in Ethereum's history. Lido's dominant role within decentralized finance (DeFi) and the broader staking economy makes this migration a significant event. The new validator design is expected to enhance several critical aspects of network performance, including operational resilience, validator efficiency, security, scalability, and decentralization.
