Lido's Staking Router v3 Hits Accounting Snag During Rollout
Lido's largest liquid staking protocol on Ethereum experienced an accounting hiccup during the rollout of Staking Router v3, which briefly skewed the daily stETH rebase to an incorrect 2.04% APR figure.
The issue was traced back to an edge case that surfaced during the transition from Lido's legacy accounting methodology to the new balance-based system introduced by SRv3.
The AccountingOracle missed a 32 ETH deposit in its calculations, but no user funds were lost and no one got rugged. The incident was described as an operational edge case specific to the migration period, not a systemic flaw in the SRv3 architecture itself.
Lido's post-mortem report noted that the upgrade represents one of the most consequential infrastructure changes the protocol has shipped, with several key features beyond raising the validator balance ceiling, including modifications to deposit flows and enabling stake consolidation across node operators.
