Lido's StETH Rebase Misses Target Amid Operational Accounting Glitch

Lido's stETH rebase missed its target by 11 basis points due to a delayed accounting update. The 32 ETH validator deposit caused a temporary discrepancy in the calculation of distributable rewards.

The issue was not related to security risks or protocol failures, but rather an operational reporting error that highlighted the importance of accurate accounting.

Lido's team is investigating the root cause and working on a fix. Once implemented, the next rebase will restore the omitted balances and normalize reported staking yields.

The incident had a minimal impact on market confidence, with the price ratio for stETH to ETH stabilizing near parity and total value locked remaining steady at around $17.5 billion.
