Linux Foundation Hijacks 'Tokenomics' for Mainstream AI Cost Management
The Linux Foundation has launched the Tokenomics Foundation to standardize AI token measurement and management. The new foundation, which includes 29 founding members such as JPMorgan Chase, IBM, Accenture, and Oracle, aims to develop open standards and best practices for AI token economics.
The foundation treats tokens as the fundamental unit of the AI economy, specifically in terms of costs, efficiency, and return on investment. It plans to introduce AI Value and Technology Value certifications, giving professionals and organizations a credentialed framework for evaluating AI expenditure.
The Tokenomics Foundation is partnering with the existing FinOps Foundation, which helps companies manage cloud spending. The two foundations plan to collaborate on developing tools and standards for AI cost management.
