Liquid Network Hackers Return 85% of Stolen Bitcoins
The Liquid Network hack has seen some resolution after hackers returned 3,400 BTC to the Liquid Federation wallet on September 7. This recovery accounts for about 85% of the Bitcoin withdrawn during the incident.
The return was confirmed by a PGP-signed on-chain message from Blockstream, stating that its bridge nodes had been patched and the funds were safe to return. The message preceded the actual transfer by a few hours, giving credence to the claim.
Nearly 600 BTC remains in the actors' address, worth around $47 million at the time of writing. This incident initially saw the withdrawal of roughly 4,000 BTC, valued at approximately $320 million.
