Litecoin Surges Past Ethereum to Claim Second Spot in Crypto Payment Rankings
Litecoin (LTC) has surged to second place among cryptocurrency payment preferences, according to data from Lithuanian payment processor CoinGate. The digital asset captured 14.5% of crypto payments in July, surpassing USDC and USDT to claim the spot behind Bitcoin's 22.9% share.
This is a significant milestone for Litecoin, despite its lower market capitalization ranking of 19th. Its fast transaction speeds and low fees make it an attractive option for merchants and consumers conducting everyday transactions.
Meanwhile, merchant adoption of cryptocurrency settlements has jumped from 27% in 2024 to 40.9% in the first half of 2025, indicating growing business comfort with digital assets.
