However, this major change at one of football's biggest clubs barely registered in the crypto world.

The lack of reaction is telling, as it shows how quickly hype cycles can cool. Liverpool's digital asset ecosystem has been quiet since the announcement, with no price spikes in associated tokens, no surge in NFT trading volume, and no new product launches to capitalize on the news cycle.

This stagnation is evident when looking at the club's past efforts. In March 2022, Liverpool launched the LFC Heroes Club NFT collection on Polygon, aiming for £8.5 million in sales revenue. However, trading volumes for Liverpool-associated digital assets have been stagnant since then, with no new token launches accompanying the managerial transition.

The reason behind this lack of reaction lies in the nature of sports NFTs and fan tokens. They often lack utility, making them insensitive to operational changes within a club. For example, an LFC Heroes NFT doesn't become more or less useful because Iraola replaced Slot.
