Longshot Brings Prediction Markets to Base with Free and Paid Contests

Longshot, a prediction market platform, has launched on Base with an alpha launch that started onboarding users into free and paid contest formats. The platform offers a mix of familiar fantasy-sports-style contests, including Survivor, Bracket, Roster, and Lineups. Free contests sit alongside paid entries starting at $2, with prize pools ranging from $100 to $250.

The platform also allows users to predict real-time crypto price direction bets for BTC, ETH, or SOL within five-minute windows. Longshot introduced 'culture markets' around August 19-21, expanding the prediction surface area beyond sports and crypto prices into broader cultural events.

Longshot's go-to-market strategy included a deposit-matching program for its first 100 users, doubling their contest bankroll from day one. The leaderboard component is central to the experience, prominently displaying recent winners and their payouts, creating a visible feedback loop that signals real money movement.
