LSE and Kraken Bring Major UK Shares On-Chain for Global Investors
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) and Kraken have partnered to bring 100 major UK-listed companies on-chain through tokenized shares. This move is expected to expand access to these stocks for global investors, excluding those in the UK.
The xStocks framework will allow eligible investors in over 110 countries to trade tokens that track underlying London-listed shares on a one-to-one basis. These tokens can be traded around the clock on centralized exchanges, self-custody wallets, and on-chain applications.
Payloadard, Kraken's owner, reported that the xStocks framework has already generated over $40 billion in total trading volume, with nearly $20 billion settled on-chain. The products have also attracted more than 200,000 holders.
