LSE and Payward Partner to Tokenize Top UK Stocks for Global Investors
Payward and the London Stock Exchange have partnered to advance the tokenization of UK equity markets. The partnership aims to tokenize the top 100 London-listed stocks, giving investors in over 110 countries a direct on-chain route into these shares, tradable 24/7 as programmable assets.
The framework has grown quickly since launching, with xStocks passing $40 billion in total volume and more than $20 billion settled on-chain across over 200,000 holders. This growth builds on Payward's existing partnership with Nasdaq, announced in March 2026, which is developing a gateway connecting permissioned and permissionless tokenized equity markets.
The London Stock Exchange will support xStocks trading on LSE 24, its recently announced 24-hour trading venue, subject to regulatory approval. The two firms will also explore native LSE-issued equity tokens, allowing London Stock Exchange members to issue and service equity natively on-chain with the same rights and full fungibility as traditional shares.
