LSE Partners with Kraken Owner to Tokenize UK Shares by 2027
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is partnering with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to bring tokenized versions of major UK-listed companies onto blockchain in 2027. This move is expected to give a boost to the real-world asset narrative, receiving strong endorsements from traditional finance.
Chainlink leads six projects positioned around this shift, followed by AlphaPepe, Ondo Finance, Plume, Centrifuge, and XDC Network. These projects cover established tokenisation infrastructure, direct RWA issuance, and an earlier retail entry before the 2027 launch.
The LSE's new venue, LSE 24, is planned to support the trading of tokenized shares through a regulated settlement and asset servicing structure. The partnership also examines how its Digital Securities Depository could support ownership records, settlement, and corporate actions.
