LSE Teams Up with Kraken's Payward for Global UK Stock Blockchain
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is partnering with Kraken parent Payward to tokenize the 100 largest UK-listed companies through a framework called xStocks. This move will allow eligible investors in over 110 countries to trade these tokens around the clock, expanding global access to UK equities via blockchain technology.
The tokens will be backed 1:1 by the underlying shares of these companies, meaning that for every token held, the investor owns an equivalent share. The xStocks framework is expected to launch within weeks, with the first tokens available for trading shortly thereafter.
The LSE plans to list these tokens on its LSE 24 venue in 2027, subject to regulatory approval. This partnership has the potential to increase global access to UK equities and provide a new avenue for investors to participate in the UK market.
