Lubin Takes the Helm as Metamask Breaks Free from Consensys
Metamask has broken away from its parent company Consensys as Lubin takes the helm. Joe Lubin, Consensys Executive Chairman, said Metamask emerged from Consensys' efforts to build the foundations of the Ethereum ecosystem.
Lubin will serve as chairman and CEO of the new company, which will focus on consumer finance with 'the same focus and ambition' that Consensys brought to building Ethereum.
The new company's goal is to manage users' money in its many diverse forms and aspects. Lubin emphasized that Metamask X is evolving into a broader platform for managing finances.
Consensys will remain focused on protocols, with expertise moving 'up the stack' to help institutions operate in an increasingly 'always-on, onchain world'.
