Mellody Hobson co-chaired the grand opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles on September 22, a privately funded project costing roughly $1 billion. The museum's board is chaired by Hobson and her husband.

Hobson holds a seat on the JPMorgan Chase board, where she also serves on the risk committee. This position has become significant given the bank's recent involvement in digital assets through its blockchain unit, Kinexys, which has processed over $3 trillion since its inception and now averages over $5 billion in daily volume.

The bank has also introduced the JPM Coin deposit token, JPMD, to institutional clients on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network built by Coinbase. Meanwhile, South Korea's KB Kookmin Bank plans to route dollar trade payments through Kinexys starting from August.
