Lucas Museum Unveils Banksy Works Amid JPMorgan's Digital Assets Rise
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles has finally opened its doors to the public. The privately funded project, which cost around $1 billion, was a decade-long pursuit by George Lucas to find the perfect location for his museum.
Mellody Hobson, co-founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments and member of JPMorgan's board, co-chairs the museum's board alongside her husband. This unique blend of finance and art is no coincidence, as Hobson has been instrumental in shaping JPMorgan's digital assets strategy.
JPMorgan's blockchain unit, Kinexys, has processed over $3 trillion since its inception and averages a daily volume of over $5 billion. The bank's foray into digital assets has been marked by significant milestones, including the launch of its deposit token, JPMD, on the Ethereum layer-2 network built by Coinbase.
The Lucas Museum boasts an impressive collection of over 1,300 pieces and 30,000 comic books, with a focus on storytelling rather than abstraction. The museum's fifth-floor murals gallery features works by Frida Kahlo, Norman Rockwell, and Banksy, among others. In fact, the curators added two walls of Banksy works at the last minute.
