Lummis Slams Dem Delay on Bipartisan Crypto Regulation Bill
Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis has criticized her Democrat colleagues for holding up the Clarity Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at creating a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market. Speaking on the Senate floor, Lummis expressed frustration that some Democrats are still unhappy with the current version of the bill.
The Clarity Act has been in development for nearly 11 months and has received support from major financial institutions, lawmakers, and companies. However, a group of Democrats last week said in a statement that the bill falls short in its current form.
Lummis, who has been nicknamed the 'Bitcoin Senator' due to her pro-crypto stance on Capitol Hill, acknowledged the bipartisan work that has gone into the bill. She stated that after nearly 11 months of concessions, she is struggling to understand what else is needed before it can pass.
