Lummis Slams Democrat Holdup on Clarity Act

Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis is urging her Democrat colleagues to pass the Clarity Act, a bipartisan bill that aims to create a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market. Speaking on the Senate floor, Lummis expressed frustration with the delay in passing the bill, stating that it has been nearly 11 months since its introduction.

The bill, which has received support from major financial institutions and lawmakers, was passed in the House of Representatives last year but has stalled in the Senate. Democrats have raised concerns about the current version of the bill, citing ethics issues. An updated version of the bill was introduced last week that addressed these concerns by banning government officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto.

Lummis emphasized that the Clarity Act is a good bill for the country, consumers, and the people they represent on both sides of the aisle. She questioned what else her Democrat colleagues need before passing the bill, stating that nearly everything has been given to them already.

The Senate is expected to vote on the bill this week, with Republicans hoping to gain bipartisan support. If passed, the Clarity Act would provide much-needed clarity for the cryptocurrency market and its users.
