Lummis Targets North Korea's Lazarus Group with CLARITY Act

Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) has introduced the CLARITY Act to combat North Korea's Lazarus Group, which allegedly stole $6.75 billion using various hacking methods and exploited loopholes in cryptocurrency regulations.

The Lazarus Group is a highly skilled cybercrime group reportedly connected to the North Korean government. According to Senator Lummis, they have used their skills to steal an estimated $6.75 billion from around the world, largely by exploiting vulnerabilities in the global financial system and cryptocurrency exchanges.

Lummis believes that her bill would help close these gaps and make it more difficult for the Lazarus Group to carry out future attacks. The CLARITY Act would require the government to issue a report every 12 months detailing the activities of North Korea's cybercrime groups, including their methods, targets, and financial gain.
