Lynch Warns Clarity Act Could Erode Dollar's Reserve Status
U.S. Representative Stephen Lynch has raised concerns that the Clarity Act could inadvertently weaken the country's banking system and the global standing of the U.S. dollar.
The proposed legislation aims to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets, addressing issues such as classification, oversight, and consumer protections.
Lynch, a Massachusetts Democrat who serves on the House Financial Services Committee, emphasized that the dollar's status as the world's primary reserve currency relies on the strength, credibility, and stability of the U.S. banking system.
He warned that if depositors move funds away from traditional banks into digital assets, it could weaken this foundation, potentially affecting the dollar's value and its role in global finance.
