Machi Big Brother Takes $76 Loss on Bored Ape Sale Amid Leveraged Position
Machi Big Brother, an entrepreneur behind several financial projects, recently sold a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT at a loss of 76% in both ETH and USD terms. The sale occurred on August 13, when Machi Big Brother withdrew 1,540 USDC from Binance and used it to cover losses.
The sale price was 8.3 ETH, which is significantly lower than the initial purchase price of 34.17 ETH three years ago. This indicates a substantial decline in value over time.
The sale was linked to a leveraged Ethereum position held by Machi Big Brother's Hyperliquid account, which had a notional value of $5.3 million at the time of the sale. The account also incurred significant funding costs, exceeding the price loss sevenfold.
This event follows a documented sequence of liquidations for Machi Big Brother, including one in November 2025 where he reopened a 25x ETH long position after a partial liquidation.
