Magic Eden is abandoning its multi-chain strategy and shutting down its marketplaces for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) by early March. The move comes as the platform focuses on iGaming, a direction CEO Jack Lu confirmed is the company's primary focus going forward.

The company will retain support for Solana-based assets, where it launched in 2021 and generated $576 million in monthly trading volume last month, according to Dune data. Bitcoin-based assets contributed just $121,000 of that total over the same period.

Magic Eden was an early adopter of Bitcoin Ordinals, capturing more than half of the emerging market's trading volume within its first week of launch. However, the company is now winding down its cross-chain wallet by April and discontinuing NFT buybacks for its ME token.
