Maharashtra Taps Blockchain for Power Grid Infrastructure Tokenization
The Indian state of Maharashtra is pioneering blockchain technology by planning to tokenize its government infrastructure, specifically focusing on electricity transmission networks.
The token sale proceeds would finance new transmission capacity and solar energy storage facilities, aiming to address the state's electrical market inefficiencies.
According to Praveen Pardeshi, who leads MITRA, the state's policy development agency, the initiative differs from traditional privatization as it allows capital circulation among a larger number of holders.
