Majority Oppose Trump's Crypto Profits Amid Ethics Debate
A recent Reuters survey has sparked an ongoing debate about President Trump's crypto investments. The poll found that 63% of respondents believe it is inappropriate for the president and his family to profit from cryptocurrency, while only 32% think it is acceptable.
The results show a stark divide along party lines, with 92% of Democrats considering the profits inappropriate, compared to 69% of Republicans who saw them as acceptable. The survey's findings come after President Trump reported over $1.4 billion in income tied to cryptocurrency ventures in his annual financial disclosure.
According to the report, this figure is not the current value of the president's crypto holdings but rather the reported income from various sources, including World Liberty Financial and the TRUMP token. The revenue generated through these investments was distributed among Trump family members and business partners.
The survey also revealed that 69% of respondents believe President Trump's business interests have influenced his presidential decisions. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that there are no conflicts of interest, claiming the president only acts in the best interests of the American public.
