Malware-Infected Video Games Steal $220K from Crypto Wallets

Share

A malware campaign targeting cryptocurrency wallets has been uncovered by federal investigators, who allege that eight compromised video games exposed roughly 8,000 devices and enabled attackers to take at least $220,000 from 80 cryptocurrency wallets.

The FBI is seeking potential victims as the investigation continues. According to court documents, software embedded inside eight games collected passwords, wallet credentials, browser data, and other sensitive information after victims installed the titles.

The malware campaign allegedly ran from May 2024 through February 2026, compromising devices through infected games such as BlockBusters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, Tokenova, or other associated games. The FBI is gathering information from potential victims of its Steam malware investigation.

The suspected primary malware developer allegedly communicated with co-conspirator Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins, 21, using encrypted Signal conversations. Investigators maintain that members of the conspiracy examined stolen files and identified wallets they could access and drain.
