MANTRA Chain's August exploit has come under further scrutiny as new details emerge regarding the security breach. An attacker exploited an upstream Cosmos-EVM vulnerability, transferring approximately 720.9 million MANTRA tokens worth around $3.6 million.

The attack did not compromise validator keys or customer balances, but it did increase circulating supply due to the transfer of previously inactive tokens. The incident highlighted the security challenges facing chains that rely on shared open-source infrastructure.

A patch was subsequently released and implemented, restoring network functionality after a 30-hour outage. However, MANTRA Chain has yet to commit to a definitive recovery plan for the affected tokens.
