MANTRA Chain Halted by Unnamed Dependency Issue, Silent Code Changes Fuel Developer Concerns
The MANTRA Chain has returned to operation after a six-day halt due to a security incident. The network resumed mainnet block production on version v8.4.0 on August 22, as per the official timeline.
The incident, which occurred on August 21, was caused by an upstream dependency issue that is still undisclosed. MANTRA Chain's analysis found that two project-managed wallets were affected, but no user, exchange, or partner funds were impacted.
Despite the return to operation, developers are expressing concerns about silent code changes made during the recovery process. The team behind MANTRA Chain has not yet published a technical account of the incident, leaving many questions unanswered.
