MANTRA Chain Halts Operations for 30 Hours Due to Cosmos-EVM Vulnerability
MANTRA Chain's mainnet operations were suspended for approximately 30 hours due to a critical vulnerability in its Cosmos-EVM module.
The security flaw was discovered on August 20, when MANTRA's security team identified malicious activity targeting the weakness. To prevent further exploitation, developers decided to halt mainnet operations and disable all blockchain functionality.
After deploying version 8.4.0, which included a critical security fix and additional protective measures, MANTRA Chain restarted block production at 5:30 a.m. UTC on August 22. The update was thoroughly tested on the DuKong testnet environment before being implemented on mainnet.
No user funds were compromised during the incident, but MANTRA's native token plummeted by 18.5% to an all-time low of $0.004126. Trading activity surged nearly 600%, with a total volume of around $24 million.
