MANTRA Chain Resumes Block Production After Cosmos-EVM Fix
MANTRA Chain's mainnet was down for about 30 hours after an attacker exploited a vulnerability in its Cosmos-EVM module. The attack occurred on August 20, and developers halted the network to prevent further damage.
The issue was caused by a flaw in the Cosmos-EVM component, which is used to run Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. MANTRA Chain's team quickly sprang into action, deploying version 8.4.0 to patch the vulnerability and add security protections.
Before restarting the network, the team took a complete snapshot of the blockchain at the halted state, ensuring that user balances remained unchanged. The restart was coordinated with validators and other members of the network's validator set.
