MANTRA Token Crashes to Record Low After Network Exploit
MANTRA Chain's network froze after an exploit was detected in an upstream dependency. This vulnerability led to a significant drop in the token's value, falling 18.5% to a record low of $0.004126 at around 11:10 p.m. UTC Thursday.
The last recorded block on the chain was produced minutes before the token touched its low, and the network halt was announced roughly half an hour later as a precaution while the team investigated.
A statement from MANTRA revealed that they have identified the vulnerability and are working on a patched release to restart the blockchain. The project's validators remain offline, and restarting will require coordination with other operators who verify transactions.
MANTRA is tracing fund movements and assessing the damage alongside exchanges while their developers prepare and test the fix. The full impact of the exploit is still being assessed by the team.
