Maple Finance Rebuilds as Second-Largest Institutional Crypto Lender
Maple Finance has emerged as the second-largest institutional crypto lender globally, behind only Tether. The platform's current market position is a testament to its ability to adapt and rebuild after the 2022 crypto credit collapse.
The implosion of lenders like Celsius, BlockFi, and Genesis took many by surprise, but Maple Finance was among the few that managed to survive and even thrive in the aftermath.
After re-evaluating its lending strategy, Maple shifted from uncollateralized lending to overcollateralized positions, serving only institutional borrowers. This pivot has been crucial in establishing trust with clients and ensuring a high repayment rate of over 99% since launch.
The platform's core business model is built on pooling institutional liquidity, lending it to vetted borrowers at risk-reflective interest rates, rather than relying on artificial incentives or token emissions. Maple now operates across multiple blockchain platforms, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, and Plasma, providing flexibility for its clients.
