MARA Holdings Drops from Second Place with Significant BTC Sale
MARA Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company, has reduced its massive BTC treasury by selling 726 BTC. This transaction brings down the company's holdings to 35,577 BTC, valued at approximately $2.3 billion based on current data from BitcoinTreasuries.net.
This move has pushed MARA out of second place and into fourth place among corporate Bitcoin holders, according to BitcoinTreasuries.net. The company had previously held a significant stash of BTC, but it has been using portions of its reserves to strengthen its balance sheet and boost liquidity throughout the year.
In fact, earlier this year, MARA sold over 15,000 BTC to repurchase more than $1 billion of convertible debt at a discount. This trend is not unique to MARA, as other Bitcoin miners like Riot and Core Scientific have also reduced their treasuries in recent quarters.
