MARA Holdings Sells $1.6B in BTC, Retains Substantial Treasury Position
MARA Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin miner, has sold 23,093 BTC valued at approximately $1.6 billion during the first half of this year. The sale represents a significant reduction in MARA's digital asset holdings as the company continues to manage its treasury amid volatile crypto markets and rising operational costs.
The move aligns with a broader trend among Bitcoin miners to liquidate portions of their mined coins to fund expansion, pay down debt, or cover energy expenses. According to Lookonchain, MARA's sales were spread across the first two quarters but the exact dates and price points were not disclosed.
MARA still holds 35,577 BTC, worth around $2.3 billion at current market prices, underscoring its long-term confidence in the asset despite short-term selling. The company's remaining treasury position remains one of the largest among publicly listed miners.
