MARA Holdings Shifts Focus with Long Ridge Acquisition

MARA Holdings, Inc., a company previously known for its Bitcoin mining operations, has undergone a significant transformation. The firm now owns a natural gas power plant, Long Ridge, in Ohio, which gives it control over its own energy costs and creates optionality for future expansion.

The acquisition of the 485-megawatt power plant is a game-changer for MARA, allowing the company to mine Bitcoin at significantly lower energy costs. This move has led analysts to revise their revenue estimates, predicting a dip in near-term revenue followed by a sharp increase as the Long Ridge AI campus comes online.

MARA's revenue growth has been impressive, driven by both Bitcoin price appreciation and hashrate expansion. The company holds approximately $8 billion in Bitcoin on its balance sheet and is expanding internationally in Paraguay and Abu Dhabi. However, MARA carries $1.95 billion in net debt, which limits its financial flexibility.
